Enzo Maresca’s dual-team strategy in the Conference League has opened the door for young talents to shine, with Marc Guiu, Josh Acheampong, and Tyrique George standing out in the recent match against Shamrock Rovers. The trio’s inclusion highlights the manager's commitment to integrating youth into the first team. After the game, Maresca was asked whether he’d consider loaning out any of the young players to further their development. He emphasized his preference for keeping them within the squad, prioritizing their growth through day-to-day exposure to his coaching philosophy. “With young players like Marc, Josh, and Tyrique, for me, the best thing is for them to stay with us. This way, they can learn daily how we want to play, grow in our system, and develop within our framework,” Maresca explained. “However, it also depends on the players’ desires. If Marc, for example, wants more game time, we’ll sit down and decide together.” ### Keeping Top Prospects Close: A Sensible Approach if Maresca Provides Opportunities Maresca’s philosophy makes sense, particularly for players like Acheampong and George, who already seem capable of contributing despite their young age. At 18, they’re showing promise and gaining valuable minutes, making a loan move less necessary at this stage. Guiu, however, presents a slightly different case. While his current and potential abilities are still up for debate, the lack of depth behind Nicolas Jackson in the striker position makes retaining him a practical choice for now. Looking ahead, if Chelsea signs another forward next summer and a Premier League or top-tier Championship club offers Guiu consistent game time, a loan move could become a more logical option for his development. For now, though, keeping the trio close aligns well with Maresca’s system and the team’s immediate needs.
